Abstract

This essay deals with some innovative aesthetic principles for teaching and interpreting ancient Chinese poetry.The author argues that these principles are based on four elements: taking a historical materialistic perspective in understanding and analyzing individual conditions of the poet and his time;trying to develop new ways to comprehend and appreciate ancient Chinese poetry on the basis of the poet's personal experiences;comprehending and appreciating the poetry in terms of the poetry and literary composition and literary characteristic;learning and thinking about the poetry through experience from a different and flexible angle.
