Study on Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase and Methionine Synthase Reductase Polymorphisms among the Han women in Yunnan Province

【Objective】 To explore the gene polymorphisms distribution of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) C677T,A1298C and methionine synthase reductase(MTRR) A66G among the Han female in Yunnan Province.【Methods】 A cross-sectional study was used.A total of 297 oral epithelial cells samples from recruited Han women in Yunnan were collected.The detections of MTHFR and MTRR gene polymorphisms were conducted with Taqman-MGB technology.The distribution of gene polymorphisms was analyzed and compared with partial regions of China,which are Shandong,Henan,Sichuan and Hainan Provinces. 【Results】The frequencies of the MTHFR 677CC,CT and TT genotypes among the Han women in Yunnan were 39.1%,46.8% and 14.1%.The frequencies of MTHFR 1298AA,AC and CC genotypes in Yunnan Han women were 65.3%,32.0% and 2.7%.The frequencies of the MTRR 66AA,AG and GG genotypes in Yunnan Han women were 57.9%,35.7% and 6.4%.Compared with partial regions,the study found that the frequency of MTHFR 677TT genotype in Yunnan Han women was lower than that in Shandong and Henan, higher than that in Hainan(All P 0.05).The frequency of MTHFR 1298CC genotype in Yunnan Han women was lower than that in Sichuan and Hainan(Both P 0.05).The frequency of MTRR 66GG genotype in Yunnan Han women was lower than that in Hainan(P 0.05).【Conclusion】 The gene polymorphisms distribution of MTHFR C677T,A1298C and MTRR A66G among the Han women in Yunnan were found to be statistically different from partial regions of China.
