Abstract

The content of civic education in American schools includes patriotic education,legal education,civic awareness training,personal moral character,rights and commitments education,values education,and history education.The major approaches include classroom teaching,service-learning, extra-curricular activities;the main modes include offering independent subjects of civic education,setting social studies,and infiltrating civic education into the teaching of other subjects and activities in schools.
