Abstract

Chinese landscape painting in the 20th century broke through the dominant position of the conservative ideas of Four Wangs(Wang Shimin,Wang Jian,Wang Hui and Wang Yuanqi in Qing Dynasty) in landscape painting circle in 20th century and had a renewed vigor. All over the country, landscape painting schools emerged one after another, while painters conducted the revival movements in various forms and achieved a great breakthrough in some aspects. Many eminent landscape painters, such as Huang Binhong,Zhang Daqian,Fu Baoshi,Li Keran and Lu Yanshao, etc.came to the fore. However, there have been many problems since the 20th century.Due to the contempt of the traditional landscape painting, the aesthetic ideology, such as the painting beauty and freehand brushwork, have been substituted by Westernized realistic painting,so the inheritance vein of landscape painting is hard to be passed on.From the 20th century to contemporary, the landscape painting dropped into the lowest level in its development.
