On the Work of Subject Indexing in the Libraries of the Institutions of Higher Learning

Subject indexing and retrieval is not only necessary for readers but also a tcndency for the constructionand development of data bases of libraries . Computerized management castes better conditions for subject indexing of thelibraries of the institutions of higher leaming. However, even with computerized management, many of them still neglect the woth of subject indeting. This can be solved by choosing the methods of indexing, training indeting personnel, deciding heading grades and formlating indexing regulations.
