INVESTIGATION ON STD/AIDS KNOWLEDGE AND RISK BEHAVIORS AMONG COMMERCIAL SEX WOMEN IN NANNING CITY

[Objective]To understand the HIV/AIDS related knowledge,attitude and risk behavior in CSWs in Nanning city.[Methods]265 CSWs sampled by cluster sampling were investigated face to face with questionnaires including their basic knowledge,attitude and behavior of HIV/AIDS.[Results]The youngest age of the 265 CSWs for the first sexual intercourse was 11 years old,87.92% of them were from 16-30 years old . 83.4% of them had more than 2 sexual partners in the last month. CSWs’knowledge about HIV/AIDS was insufficient when they had sex with their clients. The preventive measures against STD/AIDS were incorrect and the proportion of condom use was low.Treatments of STD/AIDS were not standardized.[Conclusion]CSWs’ knowledge about preventive measures against STD/AIDS needs to be further improved.Medical care seeking behaviors for STD/AIDS need to be guided in a correct direction. The key is to emphasize on sex education for CSWs and establish corresponding social supporting system.
