Study on the changes of the donor's blood cell counts before and after double apheresis platelets

Objective To study the changes of the donor's blood routine indexes before and after double apheresis platelets, and then to explore the efficiency and the safety of double apheresis platelets. Methods The blood cell counts of 50 donors were examined by blood counting instrument before and after double apheresis platelets, and the data was analyzed on Paired Samples t-Test. Results After double apheresis platelets, PLT was significantly lower than that before double apheresis platelets(P0.05). And Hb, RBC, HCT were slightly higher after double apheresis platelets than those before double apheresis platelets(P0.05), but they were in the normal range and still safe for the donors. There were no significant difference in WBC between before and after double apheresis platelets(P0.05). And examination confirmed that the quality of the apheresis platelets products was up to specification,with the amount of platelets reaching 250 × 109/L and the qualification rate of 100%. Conclusion Double apheresis platelets can improve the efficiency and safety of platelets donation, and it would not affect the blood routine indexes of the donors.
