Abstract

At present, the classical theory of thin shells is often used for solving problems of shells, that is,Which gives no consideration to the transverse shearing deformation. However, with the extensive applying of layered structure, the transverse shearing deformation becomes more and more important. This paper proposes the displacement method of medium cylindrical shells' bending problem based on the accurate elementary theory. The governing differential equation of medium cylindrical shells is obtained by introducing three displacement functions and using Cauchy-Riemann condition. At last, the exact solutions and the corresponding value results are given. The results agree to the mechanics rules and provide theoretical basis for the bending problem of medium cylindrical shells.
