Semi-circular external fixation in the treatment of infective bone nonunion

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the feasibility and clinical outcomes of treating infected bone nonunion by semi-circular external fixation.Methods:From Jan 2002 to Dec 2009,26 cases of infected bone nonunion were reviewed retrospectively,all cases were treated with semi-circular external fixation.Result:All cases were followed up for 3～42months,average 21.3 months.26 cases of infected bone nonunion got bone union in 3～6 months,average 4.3 months.25 eases with infection were controlled,but 1 case suffered infection and nonunion again,and the infection was controlled after second-operation,bone nonunion was healed after 6 months.Conclusion:The semi-circular external fixation in treating infected bone nonunion is a safe and effective therapeutic option,and the infection car be successfully controlled.
