Abstract

Background: Steel plate reinforced concrete structure has small thickness, high capacity and high ductility, which is mainly used in nuclear power reactor facilities.Due to test condition, the mechanical properties and ultimate capacity of steel concrete structure under high temperature is little studied. The properties of steel concrete structure under high temperature have significant effect on application in nuclear power. It is necessary to study the properties of steel concrete structure under high temperature.Purpose: This article is to study the temperature and stress field distribution of steel concrete wall under high temperature. Methods: Based on the determination of temperature curve and material thermal properties,a finite element model of steel concrete wall was established using 3-D solid element, transient temperature and thermal stress analysis were carried out. Results: Temperature gradient between stainless steel plate and concrete and between stud and concrete increases with time, then declines, and increment of thermal stress of wall section become smaller gradually with time. The maximum first principle stress of concrete is larger than cracking stress. Conclusions: Thermal stress has significant effect on mechanical properties of steel concrete wall, and shall be considered in designing the steel concrete structure.
