Abstract
A model was established by using the finite element method to predict the temperature field,shell growth and solid fraction of the newly-built heavy rail bloom caster of a certain steel company at different cast speed in different superheat degrees,thus providing the theoretical basis and technological guides for the cooling scheme and the position of soft reduction.
