Abstract
Objective To investigate the curative effect of endovenous laser treatment for varicose great saphenous veins. Methods The endovenous laser treatment was performed in 100 cases(124 limbs) of varicose great saphenous veins. The operation included high ligation and photocoagulation of varicose veins. For severely varicose veins, additional nicks were used to exscise diseased veins. Results The cure rate after one session of operation was 95.2%(118/124).One case(one limb) appeared recurrence one month after operation, and 5 cases(5 limbs) had remnant varicose veins.Main complications involved local funicular induration along the stem of the great saphenous vein in 18 cases, congestion under the skin in 15 cases, and local numbness of skin in 12 cases. The duration of postoperative hospital stay was 3 days,follow-ups for 2-14 months were 95 cases. Conclusions Endovenous laser treatment for varicose great saphenous veins is effective and less traumatic.
