Abstract

The combination of poetry and painting plays a very important role in Chinese painting. Its unique charm lies in the psychological satisfaction of spiritual value as well as sensory satisfaction of aesthetic value. The author concludes that artists can only pursue the limitless freedom of individual spirit to human beings' rational return by surpassing the scenic restriction and rational limitation. Thus, the natural, graceful and unrestrained combination of poetry and painting will be attained.
