Abstract

A pot experiment and chemical analysis were conducted to examine the reaction and minerals absorption by pepper under the heavy metal cadmium (Cd),lead (Pb) and their complex pollution on a grey chao soil. The results indicated: 1, In terms of Cd, Pb pollution, the production of pepper decreased, so did the contents of vitamin C and sugar. The effects of complex treatment, Cd treatment and Pb treatment dropped successively under the concentrations tested. 2, Theheavy metals influenced biomass of pepper. Complex pollution of heavy metals reduced biomass, and the similar variations was observed to Cd treatment, while itwas opposite under Pb treatment to some extent. 3, The migration of Cd was superior to Pb in pepper; Cd, Pb interacted in the complex treatment, and improved the absorption of them at the same time, yet there was improvement to Pb absorption under Cd pollution but there was no improvement to Cd absorption under Pb pollution. 4, In the leaves and fruits, Cd showed positive correlation with Zn, K, and Ca contents in the pepper. 5, After pepper growing, DTPA extractable Cd, Pb in the polluted soils were still higher than that in the control treatment.
