Abstract

Purpose:To explore the valid index to access female heavy events athletes'body composition, fat percentage. Methods BMI and body weight index(actual body weight/optimal body weight)were measured in 34 athletes, and correlation analysis between index was tested. Results 1.Fat percentage,BMI and body weight index of athletes are(19.29±3.81)%,(23.3±3.0)% and(106.4±16.2)% respectively;2.There are low correlation between fat percentage,BMI and body weight index(r=0.431,r=0.355,p0.01,respectively).Conclusion BMI and body weight index could not actually reflect athletes' body fat, while body fat percentage accessed by skin-fold thickness measurement is an objective index to evaluate their body composition.
