Abstract
to investigate dynamic changes in MT1 - MMP mRNA expression during development and reversal of liver fibrosis. Methods Liver fibrosis model was established by intraperitoneal injection with CCL4 in Wistar rats. Then the rats were allowed to recover spontaneously to observe the reversal of liver fibrosis. MT1 - MMP mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization. Results MT, - MMP mRNA was mainly expressed in mesenchymal cells(hepatic stellate cells)and in parts of hepatocytes. The level of MT1 - MMP mRNA ex- pression was gradually increased during development but gradually decreased during reversal of liver fibrosis. Conclusions MT1 - MMP may play an important role in development and reversal of liver fibrosis.
