Dental Health Knowledge and Behavior among Pupils in Yan'an

Objective To study the status of dental health knowledge and behavior among pupils in different areas in Yan'an, and to provide basis for pupils dental health education in different areas. Method A questionnaire survey about dental health knowledge and behavior was conducted among a stratified cluster sample of 391 pupils of grade 2.Result The correct answer rate was 51.33% , 46.56% and 36.46% among city, county and rural pupils respectively. The rate of correct behavior was 42.99%, 31.25%, 30.10%,respectively(P = 0.001). Conclusion There are significant differences in dental health knowledge and behavior between city pupils and county or rural. Dental health education should be implemented to promote their health knowledge and help them form correct health habits.
