Concentrations and Assessment of Heavy Metals in Benthos in Nearshore Area of Lianyungang

Abstract

Based on the data obtained from Haizhou Bay of Lianyungang in 2008,the concentrations and distributions of heavy metals in surface water,surface sediments and benthos were studied.Results showed that the concentrations of heavy metals in water were lower than the standard ones,revealing that the sediment quality was good.The contents of Zn,Cu,Pb,Cd,Ni and Hg in benthos were lower than the assessment standards,but Bullacta exarata was polluted by As,and all animals were polluted by Cr.The accumulation capacities of organisms differed in accordance with the difference of heavy metals.
