Layered scalp incision and overlapping apponeurosis suturing to prevent local alopecia after rhytidectomy

Objective To study a new method of incision closure in forehead and temporal rhytidectomy. Methods We have developed the methods of layered scalp incision and overlapping sutures of the galea. Results During the past 5 years,this method have been applied in 56 patients who underwent forehead and temporal or whole face rhytidectomy. Follow-up result shows that this method can effectively prevent persistent hair loss and depression scar formation. Conclusion Layered scalp incision and overlapping sutures of the galea aponeurosis are effective methods in frontal-temporal rhytidectomy,which can help maintaining rejuvenated state and preventing localized alopecia and depression of the scar.
