The study on the change of serum levels of IL-4 and IL-18 in patients with chronic hepatitis B after being treated by IFN

Objective To research for the relationship between IL-4and IL-18 in the course of chronic hepatitis B treated by IFN and so as to study its significance in the course of chronic hepatitis B.Methods The serum levels of IL-4L and I-18 was determined by double antibody sandwith ELISA.64 case of patients with chronic hepatitis B were tested before treating,after treated 2 months and 6 months.Meanwhile,the levels of ALT,AST were determined by ELISA.40 healthy cases served as controls.Results Those levels of IL-4and IL-18 after treating 2 months were higher than those before treating and after treated 6 months(P0.01).In the course of the treatment the patients the serum IL-4 levels were positively correlated with those of IL-18 and IL-18 levels were positively correlated with those of ALT.After treating 6 months the IL-4 levels were not correlated with those of ALT.Conclusion IL-4and IL-18 are an important role to liver injury in the course of antiviral immunity.The relation between IL-4 and IL-18 is worth further researching.
