Abstract
AIM: To observe the efficacy of trazodone in the treatment of insomnia. METHODS: Thrity-eight patients met the CCMD-2-R criteria of insomnia were divided into two groups. Twnety-two patients in trazodone group were treated with trazodone 25-50 mg·d -1,qn,while tapered the dose of previous hypnotics. Sixteen patients in control group continued to treat with previous hypnotics. RESULTS: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index grading:trazodone group was (12±s 4), control group was (12±4). There was no significant difference between two groups (P0.05). Eight patients in trazodone group stopped taking hypnotics. CONCLUSION: The efficacy of trazodon group is similar to that of hypnotics. Trazodone can gradually reduce the dose of hypnotics and relieve BZ-dependent patients' pain.
