Abstract

OBJECTIVE To explore the laboratory diagnostic features of brucellosis and analyze the epidemiology, clinical features, treatment and prognosis of brucellosis in order to understand brucellosis better.METHODS General blood culture, isolation and identification of positive bacteria and retrospectively analysis were performed in patients with positive brucellosis in our hospital from 2006 to 2009.RESULTS Totally 7 cases with positive blood cultures were identified as Brucella from 2006 to 2009 and clinical manifestations were recurrent fever, and 3 of them took surgery after confirmed diagnosis. All 7 patients were cured after the combined treatment of minocycline, doxycycline, rifampin and levofloxacin.CONCLUSION Brucellosis varies in its clinical manifestations.Blood culture is an effective diagnostic tool for patients suffering from the long-term fever with unknown reasons.Tetracycline, rifampin,or levofloxacin and other antibiotics are effective.
