Abstract
Objectives To investigate the expression and significance of tumor suppressor gene FEZ1 mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.MethodsThe expression of FEZ1 mRNA in 50 cases of esophageal carcinoma and 50 cases of normal esophageal mucoma were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results The positive expression rate and relative contents of FEZ1 mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(48.0%, 0.994±0.094) were significantly lower than in normal esophageal mucoma(84.0%, 1.071± 0.181).The positivity and relative contents of FEZ1 mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma correlated with lymph node metastasis(P 0.05).ConclusionLoss of FEZ1 gene expression may be related to lymph node metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
