Abstract

Serological survey of canine Dirofilariasis was conducted by ELISA with purified Dirofilaria immitis antigen in 1048 dogs of 12 breeds that in different ages and different breeding condition in Dandong. The results showed that: serum positive rate was 28.5%,and that of the worm examination was 22.6%.The positive rate detected by ELISA was higher than by worm examination, and the coincidence rate with the clinical examination was 100%.The infectious rate had no relation to the breeds and sex,but it related to the breeding condition and age.It provided powerful evidence for the prevention and treatment of canine Dirofilariasis. An application of the developed indirect ELISA had a great meaning to Dirofilariasis and it is important to prevent this disease.
