Effect of Ataining and Mesalazine on Ulcerative Colitis

Abstract

Objective To study the clinical efficacy and safety of Ataining combined with Mesalazine in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods Forty patients with chronic intermittent UC were randomly divided into two groups: trial group(n=20) and control group(n=20).The patients in the trial group were given Ataining(1 260 mg,3 times daily) combined with Mesalazine(0.5 g,3 times daily),and those in the control group were given Mesalazine(0.5 g,3 times daily) only for 8 weeks.Clinical effects and safety were compared between two groups.Results After treatment,there were significant differences in the overall clinical efficacy,relief of clinical symptoms,remission in colonoscopy and histological remission between the two groups(P0.05).The follow-up from six months to one year showed there were 2 cases of relapse in the trial group while 7 cases of relapse in the control group.Conclusion Ataining combined with Mesalazine is better than Mesalazine only in clinical efficacy and safety for patients with chronic intermittent UC.
