On Zhu Xi's Poems

Abstract

To counter the two wrong tendencies of overestimation and underestimating the artistic merits of Zhu Xi's poems, the article article the general state, ideological content and expressive form of his poems. The author holds that though Zhu Xi is slightly less successful both in content and in form than the masters in the same period, such as Lu You, Yang Wan-li, Fan Cheng-da and Liu Ke-zhuang, he has obtained great achievements. As a poet, his position in the poetic circles of Southern Song Dynasty can not be denied.
