A Brief Study on Liu Yun-Ke' s Resistant Thought in the Period of the Opium War

Abstract

Liu Yun - ke, the Zhejiang Xunfu ( an official position), was in the front of the Opium War. His thought of this war changed from resistance to reconciliation with the development of the war. This change wasn' t one from patriotic to traitorous, but it was a practical attitude to the war. Liu's thought was a typical representative of the official's to the external world. Their backward ideology restricted the development of Qing government in the postwar period. From it ,we can find out that ,during social change, the update of ideology is very important.
