Abstract
The characteristics of ionic liquids are reviewed.The toxicity of ionic liquids to enzymes and living cells reported in recent years is also summarized and analyzed.Especially,the recent development of their application in chiral synthesis by biocatalysis with hydrolases and oxidoreductases is presented.
