Abstract
The Tarim River is the longest inland river in China. It is located at the north of the Tarim Basin. However, the river flow in lower reaches had been cut to 357km since 1972.Along with ecological water transportation from the May 2000 to the Oct.2004 again, water transportations had achieved 6 times.Based on the growth increment data of Populus euphratica branch the effection of water transportation was discussed. As a whole, the water transportation had the significant role to the restoration of Populus euphratica. Then the relationship between volume of water transportation and the area of Populus euphratica in historical times was analyzed. In the end,the restorable area of Populus euphratica below the Daxaihai Reservoir was forecasted on the condition of intermittent water transportation.
