Abstract

Berberis plants, which contain many alkaloids, such as Berberine, Jatrorrhizine, Palmatine, Berbamine et al. Moreover, the fruit of some species even contain abundant nourishing components and microelements or inartificial coloring matters. Thus it can be seen, Berberis plants have a higher than a kite value in medicinal use, ornamental application and edible industry. Liupanshui, a district sited in the north-west of Guizhou province, China, which distributed various species Berberis plants, and are affluent in Berberis plants resources. Based on investigation on the spot, 24 species and 1 variation of wild Berberis plants were identified, within which there are 5 species are new records in Guizhou. It is a distributing center of Berberis plants in Guizhou, China. In the last section of the paper, a taxa key for identification the Berberis plants was given and their exploiting prospect was spelleg.
