Calculation and Analysis of Ecological Footprint of Shaanxi Province in 2004

Abstract

The concept and the method of calculating Ecological Footprint(EF) are introduced.The EF and ecological carrying capacity of Shaanxi Province in 2004 was calculated.The result showed that there was ecological deficit in the year,which indicated an increasing use of natural resources and unsustainable ecological development in Shaanxi Province.Meanwhile,main reasons resulting in the ecological deficit were analyzed.Based on this,the sustainable development of Shaanxi province is evaluated and relevant measures are proposed.
