Abstract
Objective:To investigate the reversal effect of enalapril on hypertension and cardiovascular changes. Motheds:Treatment of male spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR) and Wistar Kyoto(WKY) rats with enalapril was carried out by the addition of the drug in the drinking water from 10 to 20 weeks of age.Systolic blood pressure(SBP) was measured weekly until 20 weeks of age. At both 10 and 20 weeks of age, collagen content in left ventricule(LV)、 the ratio of LV/BW, and cardiovascular morphometry were examined. Results:At 20 weeks of age, SBP and collagen in LV and LV/BW were reduced signifcantly in treated SHR( P 0.05). Conclusion:Treatment with enalapril of SHR reverses the development of hypertension and cardio vascular changes in SHR.
