Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum extracellular matrix(ECM)levels and diabetic nephropathy (DN)in type 2 diabetic patients.Methods:A sensitive radioimmunoassay was utilized to detect the levels of collagenⅣ(cⅣ),laminin (LN)and hyaluronic acid(HA)in 78 patients with type 2 diabetes and 25 normal controls,the diabetes were divided into diabetic nephropathy(DN)and patients without DN.The DN patients were divided into the mieroalbuminuria and the clinic patients.The correla- tion between serum cⅣ、LN、HA levels in diabetic patients and other clinical reference factors were analyzed by liner correlation.Re- sults:In both patients with DN and patients without DN,serum cⅣand LN were higher than those in normal subjects(P0.01).Serum cⅣand LN of patients with DN increased compared with patients without DN(P0.05).Moreover,serum cⅣand LN in patients with microalbuminuria were lower than those in patients with clinical DN.Liner regression analysis in diabetic patients showed that both of serum cⅣand LN were positively correlated with fasting plasma glucose(FPG),diastolic blood pressure and duration of diabetes,re- spectively.Conclusions:Serum cⅣand LN are increased in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with normal subjects,and have the close relationship with the happenness and development of diabetic nephropathy(DN).
