Abstract

On the issue of how to design and construct Chinese modern literature and culture, Hu Shi and the XUEHENG faction showed essenfial difference. Hu Shi is more of a practitoner than a theorist. His contribution lies in the fact that he played a vanguard role in literature and academia. The XUEHENG faction's opinions are impossible for advocating Chinese essence culture and introducing Western essence culture.
