Abstract

[Objective] To evaluate the effect of oligohydramnios on perinatal outcome. [Methods] Among 2560 women who were admitted to our hospital from Jun 2001 to Oct 2006, the clinical data of 113 women with oligohydramnios was retrospectively analyzed and compared with 60 normal women as control group. [Results] Oligohydramnios occured frequently in women in 40~42 weeks of gestation (7.47%). In patients with oligohydramnios, occurrences of fetal distress, meconium stained fluid and newborn asphyxia were higher than control group (P 0.05 and P 0.01). Moreover, in oligohydramnios group, incidences of intrauterine growth retardation, hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy, and intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy were higher than in control group. AFI estimated by ultrasonic test had higher accurate rate in diagnosis of oligohydramnios. [Conclusion] Oligohydramnios severely threatens perinatal life, thus, the appropriate route and timing of delivery should be terminated, once comprehensive examination shows high risk factors, in order to improve the perienatal outcomes.
