Effects of modified psoriasis prescriptions based on the theory of toxin accumulation in blood on mice psoriasis-like lesions induced by Imiquimod

Abstract
Objective: To observe the effects of three modified psoriasis prescriptions based on the theory of toxin accumulation in blood: Liangxue Jiedu Decoction, Yangxue Jiedu Decoction and Huoxue Jiedu Decoction on mice psoriasislike lesions induced by Imiquimod(IMQ). Methods: Forty-eight BALB/c mice were randomly divided into six groups: control group, model group, Liangxue Jiedu group, Yangxue Jiedu group, Huoxue Jiedu group and Tripterygium glycosides group. The lesions, histology and epidermal thickness were observed. The proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA), CD3, involucrin were detected. Results: Compared with model group, the cutaneous symptoms of Liangxue Jiedu group and Yangxue Jiedu group were alleviated, with PASI scores decreased, epidermal parakeratosis and epidermal over-proliferation relieved, the numbers of dermal T lymphocytes reduced significantly. Conclusion: Liangxue Jiedu Decoction and Yangxue Jiedu Decoction could regulate the imiquimod-induced murine psoriasis-like lesions and inhibit the symptoms of psoriasis such as keratinocytes over-proliferation, parakeratosis and inflammatory infiltration; while the effects of Huoxue Jiedu Decoction is not as effective as Liangxue Jiedu Decoction and Yangxue Jiedu Decoction.
