PATH ANALYSIS OF INFLUENCING FACTORS ON THE HOSPITALIZATION EXPENSE AS WELL AS INDIVIDUAL PAYMENT OF MEDICAL INSURANCE INPATIENT

[Objective] To lucubrate the influencing factors on the hospitalization expense as well as individual payment of medical insurance inpatient,explore the perfect tactics of controlling medical expense,and offer the theoretic and practical evidence for diminishing medical expenses and proportion of individual payment.[Methods] The data were derived from the information system of the medical insurance in 32 hospitals in three cities in Hebei Province during 2004,1 678 medical insurance inpatients were enrolled in this study,their hospitalization expense as well as individual payment were analyzed with path analysis method.[Results] Hospitalized-days was the critical influencing factor of medical expense.Hospitalized-days before OPS,cancer,hospital degree,number of other diagnosis,treatment effect,age,occupation,level of city,hospitalization condition,etc.were all influencing factors of hospitalization expense and individual payment,which played direct and indirect effecs.[Conclusion] The comprehensive measures must be taken to control the excessive increase of hospitalization expense as well as individual payment.
