The compared study on testosterone levels of spermatic and peripheral vein blood in patients with varicocele

Objectives:To study the change and its mechanism of plasma testosterone levels in patients with varicocele .Methods:To make a compared study between the testosterone levels of spermatic vein and peripheral blood in 25 patients with varicocele and 22 patients with Inguinal hernia.Results:The plasma testosterone levels of spermatic vein in varicocele group is lower than that in Inguinal hernia group (P0.05).There is no significant difference between the plasma testosterone levels of peripheral blood in varicocele group and that in inguinal hernia group (P0.05).Conclusions:The testosterone concentration of peripheral blood may be influenced by many factors,that make it too hard to reflect the actual testosterone secretion levels of testicle correctly.Yet the concentration of plasma testosterone in spermatic vein could reflect the testosterone secretion capability of testicle rather directly.
