Abstract
Epilepsy is one of the common pediatric nervous system diseases. It is a chronic cerebral dysfunction caused by the paroxysmal abnormal discharge of cerebrum neurons.Levetiracetam,as piracetam analogue,is a new antiepileptic drug with total different mechanism. In recent years,it has been widely used in the treatment of epileptic children below 4 years old and shows better antiepileptic effects and safety. This article makes a brief review on levetiracetam′ s unique action mechanism, pharmacokinetic characteristics and clinical researches on the treatment of child epilepsy by levetiracetam.
