Abstract

To explore postnatal development of hippocampal microvessel, the microvascular developments of hippocampus and dentate gyrus in 90 SD rats, the age from postnatal 1d to 2 a, were studied by histochemical DAB, Mg 2+ -ATPase method and stereology. The results showed that from postnatal 1 d to 1 a, the microvascular length density (Lv), surface density (Sv), volume density (Vv) of hippocampus and dentate gyrus in rats increased with age. The main increase occurred during the postnatal 36d and the fastest increase occurred during 8-22 d. From postnatal 22d to 1 a, microvessel mean diameter () increased with age, but the peroid of faster increase is postnatal 3m and the most is 22-36 d. The microvascular developments of dentate gyrus and CA 1 lagged behind CA 2-CA 4, stratum lacunosun and moleculare lagged behind stratum pyramidale and stratum multiform. In 2 years old rats,of hippocampal microvessels increased significantly, Lv decreased significantly (P0.05), Sv, Vv decreased, but not significantly (P0.05).
