Abstract
Speed is a main contributing factor in all traffic crashes, and alignment is the basic element to determine operating speed of vehicles.Based on field observations of traffic features and on-scene survey of operating speed, mathematic models between speed and alignment,acceleration/deceleration and alignment were set up.Form the aspect of road safety, variation of operating speed and acceleration/deceleration on conjoint alignment sections were regarded as the criterion to establish the model for quantitative evaluation of alignment.
