Systemic treatment of allergic fungal sinusitis

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectsof different surgical procedures on allergic fungalsinusitis. METHODS 31 patients with allergic fun-gal sinusitis under endoscopic sinus surgery (24cases) or Caldwell-Luc operation(7 cases) aftermedical treatment were investigated. RESULTSThe follow-up after a year indicated no complica-tion occurred. No patient who conducted endo-scopic sinus surgery recurred and 3 patients whoreceived traditional surgery required a secondoperation. CONCLUSION Endoscopic sinus sur-gery can provide a mini-traumatic and effectivetreatment. Combined treatment of surgical andmedical ways contribute to the treatment of al-lergic fungal sinusitis.[
