Abstract
Flow field and concentration field of slab continuous casting tundish were simulated with FLUENT software.The flow field and concentration field were analyzed under different conditions of with or without weir and different parameter combinations of dam in tundish.Simulation results show that optimization combination of turbulence inhibitor makes the mean average residence time increase from 502 s to 573 s,the dead zone volume fraction decrease from 29.7% to 14.4%.The parameter optimizing of the dam and weir is favourable for homogenizing temperature and composition of molten steel and removal of inclusions.
