Abstract
Objective: To study the differences of different types of digit span tasks and their relationships to academic achievement. Method: The forward digit spans with digit and Chinese digit presented at the rates of one per 0. 25, 0. 5, 0. 75 sec were measured in 200 medical college students (100 males, 100 females). Their scores of entrance examination for college (nationally organized) were used as index of academic achievement. Results; The scores of the groups of 0. 25sec, 0. 5sec were lower then that of the group of 0. 75sec in two kinds of digit span. In male, the scores of digit span were slightly negatively correlated with physics and chemistry scores. Conclusion: The digit span with different presenting rate has an effect on its scores.
