Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and adverse effects of three 5-HT3 antagonists(granisetron, tropisetron, and ondansetron that produced in china) for the prevention of cisplatin-induced nausea and emesis in patients with head and neck cancers. Methods: Sixty-three patients that treated with high dose(80-100 mg/m2) of cisplatin for 90 cycles following chemotherapeutic regimens were ramdomly divided into three groups to receive antiemetic drugs including granisetron, tropisetron, and ondansetron. Results: The efficacy rates of granisetron, tropisetron, and ondansetron were 93.3%,86.7%,and 83.3% respectively(P0.05).Their side-effects were similar which were frequent constipation, fatigue and headache, but were mild and bearable. Conclusions: granisetron, tropisetron, and ondansetron are effective drugs in prevention of cisplatin-induced emesis in patients with head and neck cancers.
