Studies on the Wild Plant Resources and Their Sustainable Utilization in Henan Province

There exists 3158 wild species in 966 genera and 181 families of vascular plant in Henan province.According to their usage,they can be divided into 15 groups,which are timber plants(containing 474 species),fiber plants(271),starch plants(140),wild fruit(144),oil-bearing plants(291),wild vegetables(150),ornamental plants(534),medicinal plants(1172),forage grasses and fodder plants(246),perfume plants(143),tanning material and dyestuff plants(259),resin and gum-bearing plants(29),honey-resource plants(171),poisonous plants(80).For the sustainable use of the plant resources,some measures should be taken.Firstly,further to investigate the resources and establish its information system.Secondly,to adopt right ways and means of utilization and protection,including comprehensively using the resource at just the right time and in just the right amount,setting up the base of exploitation and extension of the plant resources;protecting the plant diversity,their environments and the key species,and perfecting the network of nature reserves.Finely,to arouse the protection enthusiasm of citizen by educating.
