Diagnostic Significance of Antinucleosome Antibody for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract

ObjectiveTo understand the specificity and sensitivity of antinucleosome antibody(ANuA) in the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus ( SLE ).The serum levels of IgG AnuA in 88 patients with SLE, 51 patients with other diseases and 50 healthy subjects were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).AnuAs were detected in 70 patients with SLE ( 79.5% ),one patient with rheumatoid arthritis , one patient with systemic sclerosis and none of the healthy controls. The specificity of AnuA test in SLE was 98.0%(99/101), positive AnuA reaction was shown in 6 male lupus patients.[Conclusion]ANUA is a good marker for diagnosis of SLE, with higher specificity and sensitivity. It serves especially as a valuable tool in the management of male lupus patients.
