Abstract

Considering the spectral difference between airborne remote sensing images, the characters of information extraction on afforestation and principles of vegetation index construction, a new adjustable vegetation index, airborne normalized difference vegetation index (ANDVI), was promoted in this paper. Further, a set of flowchart of afforestation information extraction was developed according to the characters of ANDVI. Still, the new approach was applied to estimate vegetation index in Shanghai city and a satisfactory result was obtained. The application shows that ANDVI is suitable to airborne remote sensing and it is effective to eliminate non-linear disturbance of reflection caused by some factors. ANDVI provides a reliable way to extract airborne remote sensing information and estimate ecological-environment parameters based on vegetation indices.
