Abstract
Objective To investigate the short term effect of reversing abnormal blood pressure biological clock rhythm of 24 hours by Nifedipine GITS in patients with essential hypertension.Methods Thirty patients with abnormal blood pressure circadian rhythm by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM)were administered oral Nifedipine GITS 30~60mg/day,and were examined by ABPM again after 6 weeks.Results The blood pressure rhythmic abnormalities were reversed in 17 patients among the 30 patients with essential hypertension.Conclusion After short term treatment by Nifedipine GITS,the abnormal blood pressure circadian rhythm of 57% patients with essential hypertension returned to normal.
