Abstract

Aesthetics,as a discipline, had played an important role in Chinese society in 1980s,which was later replaced by cultural studies. As has regained its status in contemporary China,we still need to absorb something valuable from cultural studies. The revival of that is happening now should go through but transcend cultural studies. The acceptance of cultural studies can help go beyond the narrow proposition of aesthetics as disinterestedness. However,in order to give a new position,it is necessary to appeal to aesthetic evaluation. In addition, aesthetics should also return to Marxism, turning itself into a critical philosophy of art, which can be oriented to social development and addresses prevailing artistic realities of various kinds.
